History:

The MALBA was opened on September 21, 2001. It features the Costantini Collection. This collection features more than five hundred works, including drawings, paintings, sculptures and objects by artists from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Chile, Ecuador, Mexico, Uruguay and Venezuela.

As stated on its website, the mission of MALBA is:

"To collect, preserve, research and promote Latin American art from the onset of the 20th century to the present. This also involves educating the public to foster their knowledge in Latin American artists, in the diversity of cultural and artistic holdings in this region, sharing such responsibility both with the national and the international community."

MALBA is one of 15 stops on the Buenos Aires Museum Mile (Milla Museos).

Cinema:

Along with its visual and interactive exhibitions, the Malba Cine, a small theater inside the museum offers an eclectic array of films on the weekends. Often these films are part of the museums curated themes for the month and some are accompanied by live orchestras. A few notable films have included a screening of Metropolis complete with lost footage and accompanied by an orchestra. Another was Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

Café des Arts:

MALBA's cafe is an elegant beginning or end to your visit, with upscale dining options such as steaks, salads, and sandwiches. If these items don't fit with your budget, you can always enjoy a coffee and croissant with dulce de leche while enjoying the cafe's outer patio or smartly decorated inside.
